    Statistics problem

    Hi, I was wondering if anyone could help with this part of a problem I'm working on.

    A random variable is distributed between -1 and 1 according to the probability density function:

    P(x)= Ax^4.

    Find the value of A.

    I'm not sure how to go about this.

    One of the conditions for a function f(x) to be a pdf is \int_{-\infty}^{+\infty} f(x) \, dx = 1.

    For your question this boils down to \int_{x=-1}^{x=+1} A x^4 \, dx = 1 ......
