please, i'm in a hurry...... combinations

12 girls try out for a hockey team. two can play only in goal, 4 girls can play only on defence, and the rest can play either centre or forward. In how many different ways can the coach make up the starting line-up?
(the answer is 240, basicly, i don't understand the question well)
    thank you for any help`````````

    For goalies, we have {2 \choose 1} = 2

    For defense, we have {4 \choose 2} = 6

    For offense, we have {6 \choose 3} = 20

    Total Combinations of starting lineup = 2 * 6 * 20 = 240

For those that do not follow hockey, I should have clarified above, there are 3 offensive players (Left Wing, Center, Right Wing), 2 defensive players, and 1 goalie on the ice for a starting lineup.

They may ask you a question along the lines of, "How many combinations of ??? if they pull the goalie?"

If they ask that, when a goalie is pulled from the game, the team is allowed to replace the goalie with 1 player. They usually put them on offense. Keep that in mind if you run across a question like that. Therefore, the total amount of players on the ice does not change, but individual combos of offense/defense/goalies will change.
