    Octahedron

A special die is made in the shape of an octahedron.
The die has 8 equal faces marked with the numbers 1 to 8.
If the die is thrown once, what is the probability that the face that lands uppermost has a prime number?

    Solution:

Let A = probability that the face that lands uppermost has a prime number.

    In the pool of {1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8}, {2, 3, 5, 7} are prime.

    P(A) = 4/8 = 1/2

    Correct?

    Yes, that is correct.

(I think Romsek is getting a little tired of these questions.)

(Romsek, at least he is working on the questions himself rather than just asking for answers!)

    It's not just that.

Harpazo answered the question clearly and logically.

There should be no question that his was the right answer.

If there was he should examine his doubts and convince himself that he did indeed have the right answer.

He's using this place as a crutch and that is probably a factor in why he hasn't really learned much in 5+ yrs now

If I show my work, not cool. If I don't show my work, not cool. I cannot win with certain individuals here and other places as well.

Yeah. It's all about me and others.

It has nothing to do with you posting 30 times a day asking if you've gotten your algebra I problems correct.

It has nothing to do with you trying to turn this place into some sort of Catholic advocacy forum.

It has nothing to do with your petulant and argumentative responses to many posts that you don't care for.

I see you note that other places have had issues with you as well. Color me shocked.

You are apparently a security guard by trade. How would you like it if someone came up to you 30 times a day and asked if some person was a shoplifter.
Then when you got a bit tired of this that person remarked... "but I'm teaching myself to be a detective!!!!"

You might just get aggravated by it after months and years.
