logistic function
Hello, I know what a logistic function (scurve) is but I'd like to get a better understanding of why it's named "logistic" function. The general definition of "logistics" is "the handling of the details of an operation." Definitions of "logistic" include "of or relating to symbolic logic" or "of or related to the philosophical attempt to reduce mathematics to logic."
The scurve is not defined as 1 type of logistic function, but rather, it's specifically named "logistic function." Do you know why the scurve is named "logistic function"? Or is this just a case where the inventor chose a name for the function that may not be completely logical?
