    Normal Distribution (modelling)

    Hi,

Need help with a question on normal distribution.

    Question

The time required to complete a certain car journey has been found from experience to have mean 2 hours 20 minutes and standard deviation 15 minutes.

It is known that delays occur rarely on this journey, but that when they do occur they are lengthy. Give a reason why this information suggests that a normal distribution might not be a good model.

    Thanks.

    Hey acc100jt.

Your delay is going to skew the distribution on the tail and a Normal distribution doesn't have that kind of skewed behaviour. Perhaps you should think about drawing the distribution with the information you have been given.
    Thanks from acc100jt
