    Variance question

Random samples from two normal populations produced the following statistics:

    S1^2 =350, n1 =30, S2^2 =700, n2=30

    a. Can we infer at the 10% significance level that the two population variances differ?
    b. Now, repeat part a) changing the sample sizes to 15. What happens to the test
statistic when the sample size decreases?

    Hey Smb122.

Hint: Consider the F-distribution and F-statistic in terms of a ratio where you are testing H0: sigma1^2/sigma2^2 = 1
