    Elementary Statistics

    Question : A business man goes to hotels X, Y, Z and 20%, 50% and 30% of the visits respectively. It is known that 5%, 4%, 8% of the rooms in X, Y Z hotels have faulty plumbing. What is the probability that the businessman‘s rooms having faulty plumbing are assigned to hotel Z.

    Hey brosnan123.

    If the visitation probability to Z stays the same over all visits, then you need to consider whether the probability of plumbing is the same over all hotels in Z.

    Consider whether this is the case first in order to answer your question.
