    Help me identify this distribution

    f(x) = \frac{3\theta^3}{(x+\theta)^4}

    What distribution is that?

    PS what the heck is going on with all this spam?

    Hey MN1987.

    I haven't seen a name for this distribution: in what context does it appear (i.e. field of study, application, etc)

    Re: Help me identify this distribution

    It's just a HW prob from my graduate level inference class. We are asked to show that 2x̄ is an unbiased estimator of theta, but when I take E[2x̄] I can only simplify it down to 2E[X]... so I was hoping to find the distribution name to simplify things a bit.

    Or else, how else would I find E[x]? The MGF I suppose?
