How to check if there is a significant difference in ranking ?

Hi ! How to compare the ranking of sports teams in a country and to check if men(m) or women(w) teams are higher in ranking ?

    For example,

    Team - Medals - Rank
    m - 120 - 1
    w - 100 - 2
    m - 90 - 3
    w - 80 - 4
    m - 80 - 3

From these examples, men achieved higher medals and ranking , but is there significance difference in the ranking? Would is be possible to select to compare the men ranking and women using Spearman ? for example
    men - women
    1 - 2
    3- 4
    5-

or there are better test to select?

    Many thanks

    Hi zia!

For a Spearman's rank correlation test, you need paired observations, which you don't have.

What you would want to do, is to compare the means of the respective ranks.
You could do that with a Wilcoxon rank-sum W test or the Mann–Whitney U test.
