Finding sample size given sample mean, standard deviation, and the t-value
Texas A&M wants to know whether the mean SAT score for students in the incoming fall 2013 class is any different from the mean in 2012, 1215. Let Mu (mean) represent the mean SAT score for the incoming fall 2013 class. A random sample of high school seniors planning on attending TAMU in the fall of 2013 yields a sample mean of 1213 and a sample standard deviation of 100. The test statistic for testing H0: Mu = 1215 vs. Ha: Mu is not equal to 1215 was t=-3.16. What was the sample size in this study?

Hey mmt421.
Hint: What is the formula for the test-statistic? How can you use this to get the value for n?
