Thread: How to show that events are independent?

I'm not really sure how to show whether two events are independent or not.

like question c, d, e I am having trouble prooving. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated

To prove that 2 events are independent you have to see that:

P(A and B) = P(A)P(B)

would you not be able to use conditional probability formula? I'm sorry if I sound really confused. I did some computing and I came to the conclusion that they are in fact dependent. Is this right?

My argument was that:
P(A|B)does not equal P(A) therefore they are dependent
