Thread: Math In Excel does anyone know how to do this

You are going to roll four twenty-sided dice. If the rolls total to 20 or less, roll two more twenty-sided dice and add that to the total. For instance, if the total of my four die rolls is 32, then that is the score of the game. If the total is 17, then I roll two more dice and add that to the total. If these two bonus dice total 20, then the score of that game is 37. Of ten thousand games, what is the average score?

I am suppose to do this in excel I sortive understand it but i dont know help please

Here's how to simulate the roll of a 20-sided die: enter
=int(1+20*rand())
in cell
A1.

To simulate 4 such dice, enter the same formula in cells A11 (you can do this with copy-paste).

Then enter
=sum(A11)
in cell E1. This is the sum of the four dice.

Maybe you can see from this how to get two more "dice" in cells F1 and G1, and their sum in H1.

I'll leave it to you to figure out how to use an "=if" to put the score of the game in cell I1.

You can then use copy/paste to generate 1000 such games in rows 1-1000 of your spreadsheet. I'll leave it to you to figure out how to get the average.

When you click "Go Advanced," there is a page section called "Additional Options." It has several checkboxes including "Disable smilies in text."

Does that turn the smileys off for me only, or are other readers of the post also affected? I.e., do other readers see a colon D or a smiley?

Thanks, that indicates the "disable smileys" option affects all readers, not just the writer of the post.
