# Thread: Proof of Variance for Continuous Uniform Distribution

1. ## Proof of Variance for Continuous Uniform Distribution

Hi everyone, I had a proof up earlier for the expectation of a Continuous Uniform Distribution that people helped me with. I was wondering if anybody could work me through this one as well?

If X ~ U(a,b), then:

Var(X) = .

Now
 is given by:

 or
Subtracting yields

Any help would be very much appreciated

On both of the ones you have posted, all the steps clearly there. There is absolutely nothing to add.
Either you know elementary calculus or you don't. If you don't why are you trying to use it?
You also need to realize this is not a tutorial service.
