1. ## very confused on how to do this independent event problem :(

I need some serious help with this problem. A and B are independent events, and P(A)=0.6 and P(A and B)= 0.3. Find P(B). I just do not know the steps for solving this problem.

If A and B are independent events, then $\displaystyle P(A\cap B)=P(A)P(B)$. Solve for $\displaystyle P(B)~.$

Since they are independent events
P(A and B) = P(A)X P(B)
0.3= 0.6X P(B)
P(B)=0.5

The "serious help" you needed was the definition of "indendent events". Did you look that up in your text book?
