    Averages

    Hi,

There are 13 employees in a sales department. All 13 employees talk to customers on a daily basis. I would like to compare the number of customers one (1) of the employees (known as employee X) talks to in one (1) day, compared with the average number of customers all employees from the sales department talk with. In other words, I would like to know whether the number of customers employee X talks with is above or below the average number of calls made by the sales department as a whole.

My question is, should I include employee X in the average for all employees (13) and then compare this average with employee x? Or should I exclude employee x for the calculation of the average?

If the question is: Is employee 1 talking to significantly more (fewer) customers than your other employees? Then exclude employee 1 from the mean and variance calculations.
