Cauchy function?

Hi, i need help on my project :

its way out of my syllabus, it doesnt help that my lecturer gives hints that noone understands..

please help..

What have you tried? ...
For example exercice (c), the area under the curve in the interval . The first thing I think if I read this question is ... integration.
