# Math Help - Probability using Venn Diagrams

1. ## Probability using Venn Diagrams

I am currently going through so past exams papers, in preparation for my upcoming exams. However, they do not contain answers and therefore I'm not sure if I'm on the right track.

Can anybody help with this question I am working on?

The value of P(not A and B) is

(A) 0.10
(B) 0.35
(C) 0.45
(D) 0.75
(E) None of the above.

I have been given a Venn diagram with the following values:

A = 15
B = 35
The intersection of A and B = 10
The universal set = 40

I have come to the conclusion that the answer is B, as that's everything that's in B but not included in A.

Can anybody tell me if this is right, or where I may be going wrong?

Sorry I haven't typed it out mathematically, I'm not sure how to do it on the forum.

It is really difficult to read this problem!
Are you saying that $|A|=15,~|B|=35,~\&~|A\cap B|=10~?$
If so, that means $|A\setminus B|=5~\&~|B\setminus A|=25.$
