Thread: Multiple-choice quiz problem

"A quiz contains five multiple-choice questions, each of which has four alternatives. In how many different ways can the five questions be answered?"

I can't think how to approach this. Alternatively, I've gotten answers of 2880, 480, and 120 depending on how I approach it. The book says the answer is 1024. Help! Brain freeze!

Because there are 4 choices and 5 problems.
