Exponent C When Dealing With Probabilities?
This question on my assignment has thrown me for a loop.

I just don't know what that exponent C on parts b. and d. mean. It's not in my notes, or the course notes the Prof has put online. Google has failed me as well.

Can someone point me in the right direction?

Why on Earth would my prof use different notation in the notes and assignments...

While I'm at it here, part d. has me all screwed up. Letting ^ represent an intersection, I can get it to;

p(A1) + p(A2) + p(A3) - p(A1^A2) - p(A1' ^ A2' U A3)

But I don't know what to do with that last term. Am I on the right track? Where do I go from here?

It might be worth drawing a Venn diagram to help answer the questions.
