# Math Help - Probability Word Problem w/ Answer

1. ## Probability Word Problem w/ Answer

In an office of 75 employees, 60 are female. Of the 75 employees, there are 30 clerical workers, 10 of whom are male. If an employee is selected at random, what is the probability of selecting a female cerical worker?

The answer is 4/15 but I have no idea the steps of how to find it!

2. Draw your self a table.

On top two fields Male and Female, on the side Clerical and Not Clerical, fill in the gaps from the information above.

Spoiler:
Pr(selecting a female that is also clerical) = (Number of Female Clerical Workers) / (Total Workers) = 20/75 = 4/15

3. What do you mean a table pickslides? It would be just filled in with 20, 10s (2 x 2). But I understand the other part.. but how would you make a table of the given data?

4. Your post gives the following info.

$\begin{array}{|c|c|c|c|}
\text{} & \text{Male} &\text{Female} & \text{TOTAL}\\ \hline
\text{Clerical} & 10 & \\ \text{Non Clerical} & & \\ \hline
\text{TOTAL} & & 60 & 75 \end{array}$

Back fill the table!
