the events A and B are independent and P(A)=0.3 and P(B)=0.5

Find P(AUB)

I have no idea how to approach this

The formula is

p(A) + p(B) - p(AnB) (n being the intersection symbol) but I do not know how to find that amount of intersection

This means: . $P(A \cap B) \;=\;P(A)\!\cdot\!P(B)$
