[SOLVED] probability of fly landing on television screen
if i bought a television an the outside was 30 in by 60in an the screen was 20in by 50in what would the probability of a fly landing on the screen?i dont understand how to do it an its getting very frusterating pls help! :mad: :eek:

Remember Probability is the favorable events divided by the possible events. The same thing here the favorable events is the area of the television which is 20X50=1000. Now the possible events are the all events in this case the area of the wall the television is on which is 30X60=1800. Now divide them 1000/1800=5/9=55.55%.

I sure hope that fly doesn't possess the affinity for light as does his distant lepidopteron cousin, the pesky moth. Such would surely reek havoc with the existing probability model. :)

Modern TV are heavily dependant on digital electronics and so are very
vulnerable to bugs! :eek:
