A discrete random variable x can assume five possible values: 2, 3, 5, 8 and 10. Its probability distribution is shown here:



x = 2 , 3 , 5, 8, 10.

p(x) = 0.15 , 0.10, ---, 0.25, 0.25.


1. What is p(5) ?
2. What is the probability that x equals 2 or 10?

1. All the probabilities should add up to 1. You can use this fact to work out the missing one

2. 0.15 + 0.25 = 0.4
