    Percentage question:

    72% of male students and 80% of female students passed the exam. 75% of the total student population passed the exam. Find the fraction of the total male student population.

    How do I go about finding this information? A couple things I tried led to nowhere...

    .72M+.80F=.75(M+F)
    .05F-.03M=0
    F=(3/5)M=(.6)M
    Can you finish?

    I think I got it.

    so 5F=3M
    or F=3/5M, or there are 3 females for every 5 males.
    so if the total student population was 8, there'd be 5 males & 3 females.

    Thus the final answer is 5/8. Sounds about right?
