hi

upper bound is the highest possible value in that particular class and lower bound is the minimum possible value .

Consider these classes :

1-5 with frequency (20)

6-10 (30)

11-15 (40)

so here the modal class is 11-15 and its upper bound , 15.5 and lower bound , 10.5 - May 7th 2010, 08:01 AMandyboy179

its 11-15 , 15.1 , 15.2 , 15.3 , 15.4 , 15.5 , 15.6 , 15.7 , 15.8 , 15.8 , 16

There are 10 numbers (one decimal place) between 15 and 16 so to be fair , 15 will 'take' 5 and 16 will 'take' 5 .

So you will see that the maximum 15 can take is till 15.5 , 15.6 onwards belong to 16 .

40 is the frequency and it has nothing to do with bounds . - May 7th 2010, 08:14 AMandyboy179
oh i think i understand now, with my question it looks like this:

3-5 6-8 9-11 12-14 15-17 18-22 23-27 28-40

so the upper bounds would be 41 and the lower would be 3.5? - May 7th 2010, 08:19 AMmathaddict

also one more thing, can you tell me what modal class is? is it what 1 with the most frequency like mode?
