Which statistics test should I use?

For the final project in my statistics class, we need to conduct and evaluate our own survey or case study. The hypothesis I'm testing is whether or not a senior in high school who has made his or her college decision will get more sleep at night. I have my data collection, I just do not know which tests I should use with my data to confirm or disprove my hypothesis. Any help I could get would be fantastic. Also, if you would know which test to use on a calculator, specifically the TI-83 Plus, please add that in as well. Thanks!

are you collecting data from the same person?
That would be how I would devise the experiment.
That would eliminate the variation due to people.
You can see how the same person sleeps before and after they make their decision.
That's a paired diff experiment.
Otherwise it's a 2 sample mean test with indep samples.
And you should always consult with the statistician prior to collecting the data.
