Thread: mean from a histogram

hi, this is my question:

Clare counted the number of letters in each word of one poem. There were 28 words in the poem.

She drew this table to show her results (table at bottom of page)

Q: Calculate the mean number of letters per word in the poem?

would i do:
2x1 + 5x2 + 6x3 + 8x4 + 2x5 + 3x6 + 2x7 =104
104/28 =3.71
Answer= 3.71 letters per word?
