1. ## tree diagram help.

hi i am puzzled with this and i know its actually or should be straight forward.
here is my question:
employees of a company fall into 4 categories:
managers 4%, adminstrators 12% Technicians 26% Labourers 58%

If 20% of the managers, 5% of the administrators, 3% of the technicians and 0.5% of the labourers have the opportunity of promotion in the next year
i. Construct a tree diagram
ii. What is the probability that a randomly chosen employee is a manager and will gain promotion next year.
Any pointers appreciated to get me started.
Thanks

Employees of a company fall into 4 categories:
Managers 4%, Adminstrators 12%, Technicians 26%, Laborers 58%

20% of the Managers, 5% of the Administrators, 3% of the Technicians and
0.5% of the Laborers have the opportunity of promotion in the next year.

(a) Construct a tree diagram
Let $M,A,T,L$ represent the four categories.

Let $P$ mean "Promoted" and $N$ mean "Not promoted".
Code:
20%
* - - - - * P
4%       ---        |
* - - - - - - | M | - - - *
|              ---        |   80%
|                         * - - - - * N
|
|                              5%
|                         * - - - - * P
|    12%       ---        |
* - - - - - - | A | - - - *
|              ---        |   95%
|                         * - - - - * N
o - - - *
|                              3%
|                         * - - - - * P
|    26%       ---        |
* - - - - - - | T | - - - *
|              ---        |   97%
|                         * - - - - * N
|
|                            0.5%
|                         * - - - - * P
|    58%       ---        |
* - - - - - - | L | - - - *
---        |  99.5%
* - - - - * N

3. ## tree diagram

many thanks again i had managed to work out the diagram myself. i knew it was quite straight forward! i shall have a look at the questions i need answered i'm assuming i now get these done via my diagram!

thankyou.

ps standby!
