p.m.f
supposed that X is a uniform discrete random variabe between a and b where a<b. write the p.m.f of X.

how do i identify if this random variable falls under which distribution?

thanks

Are you asking what distribution of this random variable is? The question lists it there.

The PMF (or, also commonly known, the probability density function, or PDF) of a discrete uniform R.V. is:
$p(x)=\frac{1}{n}$, where $x\in\{1,2,\ldots,n\}$
