    Blackjack Project

    I'm doing an applied mathematics project on the math behind Basic Blackjack Strategy. I've looked all over (google, multiple academic databases, math specific websites, etc), and yet I can't seem to find anything that explains HOW basic strategy was developed, or that explains the statistics/probabilities behind the moves it tells you to make. Would someone mind explaining why these moves are optimal, or in lieu of that point me towards somewhere that does (preferably a source I can cite in my paper as well)?

    Whats your math comfort level. I'm sure the strategies are based on remaining cards in the deck, as well as dealers hands, your point total, and dealers possible point total. I'm not familiar with the game of blackjack but these links are interesting:
