    The Normal Curve and Percentiles

Why do the 30th, 40th, 50th, 60th, 70th percentiles appear closer together than do the 5th,10th,and 20th percentiles on a Normal Curve?

The normal curve is not "uniform" (obviously); a majority of the values in a normal distribution will be within one standard deviation from the mean. Thus the 10th and 20th (and 80th and 90th) percentiles are going to be on the far edges of your curve.
