Statistical Significance

Hi all,

Am having trouble coming up with a clear definition of Statistical Significance when referring to statistics.

Can someone please give me a direction or definition.

An example of statistical significance would be having very strong evidence that there is a difference between the means of 2 populations, e.g mean height. Statistical significance does not always mean practical significance however - e.g. if our estimate of height difference is 0.5cm, this may not be of any practical use to people.
