    Finding the odds

    A bag contains 13 balls numbered 1 through 13. What are the odds in favor of selecting a ball that has an even number?

    Pr(even number) = 6/13. Now apply your definition of odds ....

    Hi

    Even numbers: 2,4,6,8,10,12

    Odd numbers: 1,3,5,7,9,11,13

    There are 6 even numbers and 7 odd numbers.
    So the odds are:

    even : odd -> 6:7

    Or P(\mbox{ Ball with even number }) = \frac{6}{6+7}
