Stat/Prob help?
Each time a component is tested, the trial is a sucess (S) or failure (F). Suppose the component is tested repeatedly until a success occurs in three consecutive trials. Let Y denote the number of trials nessecary to achieve this. List all outcomes corresponding to the five smallest possible values of Y, and state which Y value is associated with each one.

how do i do this/ start..

how do i do this/ start..

The smallest outcome would be SSS. Y = 3.
The second smallest outcome would be FSSS. Y = 4.
The third smallest outcome would be SFSSS or FFSSS. Y = 5.
etc.
