hi i'm new to maths so not sure exactly what section this should come under but i've been trying to figure it out for a while and still can't.

the question is: the point (k, 2k) lies on the line with equation 2x+3y-6=0. find the value of k.

the answer is in the back of the book but i really can't figure out how you would arrive at that answer with the information given.

any help would be much appreciated, thankyou

Substitute x = k and y = 2k into 2x+3y-6=0. Solve for k.

k= 0.75 or 3/4. from your way of doing it thats how it works out and thats the answer in the back of the book as well so yeah, must be right. cheers for helping out with that, the book didn't explain how to do it that way.
