Thread: Cylinder

A cylindrical tent peg is driven into level ground,Later,it is removed by pulling it straight out. Describe the possible shapes of the top of the hole left by the tent peg at the surface of the ground,explain how these shapes are formed..



Correct me if I'm wrong but wouldn't it be....a round cylinder shape

At the surface of the ground. I'm gonna go with a circle. It was formed by the displacement of the soil due to the force of the peg being driven in.

If the peg was driven in at an angle, you could end up with an ellipse-type shape, I think...?
