# Math Help - log and exponential functions

1. ## log and exponential functions

for the function y=0.5^x

a) identity intervals for which the function is positive and intervals for which it is negative for both the the function and its inverse

b) intervals for which the function is increasing and intervals for which it is decreasing for both the function and its inverse

I don't get how to do these questions. How do I figure out if the function and its inverse is positive, negative, increasing or decreasing? If you could provide me the info that I need to know to figure out these questions, it would be really helpful! thank you so much!

$y = \left(\frac{1}{2}\right)^x = 2^{-x}$

you should know what the graph looks like.

using that graph, you should be able to sketch its inverse, then answer the questions.
