# Math Help - Y= 1/F(x) Graph Question.

1. ## Y= 1/F(x) Graph Question.

I'm given the graph of y=f(x), and must draw Y=1/f(x).

I seem to remember I'm supposed to do something with the points given, but can't remember what exactly.

Halp?

You only have to calculate the reciprocal of the y-values to get the Y-values.

Example: Let $y = \dfrac14 x^2$ then $Y = \dfrac4{x^2}$

Both graphs must intersect on the line y = 1 or Y = 1 respectively.

3. I'm not given the equation of the line though, just a line called y=f(x).

So estimate the values from the picture, and find the reciprocals. Plot the reciprocals, remembering that zeroes of the original graph will be vertical asymptotes of the reciprocal graph.

5. there is no general transformation for that.
