    Unit Vectors!

    Hello Helpers!

    I'm a tad confused with this question:

    Find the unit vector in the same direction as u.

    u = -11i - 6j

    Anyone know?

    Much appreciated,
    Margo

    Hi,

    A unit vector has length 1, so you're looking for a vector which is parallel to \underline{u} but has length 1. Best way to get this is to find out the length of \underline{u} and let's call this a then the unit vector you seek is \frac{1}{a}\underline{u}.
    PS Use pythagoras theorem to find a.
    Hope that helps.
