Hello Helpers!
I'm a tad confused with this question:
Find the unit vector in the same direction as u.
u = -11i - 6j
Anyone know?
Much appreciated,
Margo
Hi,
A unit vector has length 1, so you're looking for a vector which is parallel to $\displaystyle \underline{u}$ but has length 1. Best way to get this is to find out the length of $\displaystyle \underline{u}$ and let's call this $\displaystyle a$ then the unit vector you seek is $\displaystyle \frac{1}{a}\underline{u}$.
PS Use pythagoras theorem to find $\displaystyle a$.
Hope that helps.
