    composition of functions

    Hi everyone,

    It seems that these composition of functions has given me some problems. I am stuck on one problem set in particular, maybe someone here could help me. The set is as follows:


    Use the given functions to answer the following questions. (Enter NONE in any unused answer blanks.)


    (a) Evaluate (fog)(x).
    (b) Evaluate (gof)(x).
    c) Evaluate (fof)(x).
    (d) Evaluate (gog)(x).

    gof(x) =g(f(x)) = (f(x))^{1/3} = (x^3 +8)^{1/3}

    fog(x) = f(g(x)) = (x^{1/3})^3 + 8 = x+8

     <br />
gog(x) = g(g(x)) =g(x)^{1/3} = (x^{1/3})^{1/3}<br />

     <br />
fof(x)= f ( f(x) ) = f(x)^3 + 8 = (x^3+ 8)^3 + 8 <br />

    Thank you so much. I was close but just a little off. I didn't think to convert the roots to exponents. That would have made it so much easier.
