    Average rate of change help.

    Find the average rate of change for the function between the given values.

    f(x)=6x^3+4x^2+6; from -5 to -2

    Answer: f(x+h)-f(x)/h=3x^2+3xh+8x+4h

    I plugged in -2 for x and -3 for h and my result was 11.

    Don't know if I am doing this right. Please help.

    F(-5)-f(-2)/-5-(-2)
    =-644-(-26)
    =-618/-3
    =206

    The answer is A.

    f(x) = 6x^3 + 4x^2+ 6 on the interval [-5, -2]

    average rate of change = \frac{f(-2) - f(-5)}{-2 - (-5)} = \frac{-26 - (-644)}{3} = 206

    how did you come about getting -26. I understand how the others were figured out. Thanks in advanced.
