    graphs

    Can anyone explain to me why for the graph f(x) = 1/x,
    af(x) and f(ax) is the same? And why -f(x) and f(-x) is the same? (though I suppose the reason for the reflections will be the same as for the ones with a scale factor)

    In the first case they are not the same graph: \frac{a}{x} \ne \frac{1}{{ax}}.

    In the second they are the same:  - \frac{1}{x} = \frac{1}{{ - x}}
