Thread: Simple Subtraction and Distribution question

2x^2 /(divided by) x^2 + 1x - (minus) -2x^2 + 2x-1x-1 /(divided by) x^2 + 1x



okay question is,
does the minus distribute into the 2x^2 + 2x -1x -1 ?
hence equation becomes -2x^2 - 2x +1x +1

or,

does the minus only distribute into the the first part 2x^2?
hence equation becomes -2x^2 + 2x -1x -1

(2x^2 / x^2 + 1x) - (2x^2 + 2x-1x-1 / x^2 + 1x)
(x(2x) / x(x+1)) - (2x^2+x-1 / x(x+1))
(2x / x+1) - ((2x-1)(x+1) / x(x+1))
(2x / x+1) - ( 2x-1 / x )

Can you take it from here. You can just have to combine the two terms.
