    Smile Analytic Geomtry

I've got some problems in my homework, I just can't understand how I can do that: It supposed to be done using the Pythagorean theorem.

    Thanks a lot!

Ok. To use the Pythagorean Theorem you must assume that some estimates are exact.

For the first one, the distance is a straight line from point A to point B, but you don't know this distance. Make a right triangle. You can do this by going down two grids and going left one grid, or making a triangle with legs 120 km and 60 km. Can you take it from here?

EDIT: The estimation of the distance down is hard. It seems to be from 1.5-2 units.
