Write An Equation
Write an equation and solve using your equation.

A women spent two-thirds of her money. She lost two-thirds of the remainder and then had $4 left. With how much money did she start? • Oct 31st 2008, 04:37 PM Shyam Quote: Originally Posted by magentarita Write an equation and solve using your equation. A women spent two-thirds of her money. Let woman started with $x money spent $= \frac{2}{3}x$ money remaining $= x - \frac{2}{3}x=\frac{1}{3}x$ money lost $= \frac{2}{3}\times \frac{1}{3}x = \frac{2}{9}x$ money remaining after losing, $= \frac{1}{3}x-\frac{2}{9}x$ $4= \frac{1}{3}x-\frac{2}{9}x$ now, can you finish it ??? • Nov 1st 2008, 04:46 AM magentarita yes... $4= \frac{1}{3}x-\frac{2}{9}x$

Yes, I can now finish. Thank you. This is my BIGGEST problem. For some unknown reason, I have not been able to create the needed equation(s) to solve word problems. If I can somehow learn how to do that, math would become my best buddy.
