Hey, I'm stuck on this question about conic sections. I'm supposed to use the theorem that "any general conic section is obtained by a rotation of a conic section without mixed term". Well I managed to derive the equation of this hyperbola (with no mixed terms). I now have to rotate it, but do I rotate it through the origin? Or the centre of the hyperbola itself? (It is not a standard hyperbola) Thanks in advance (Itwasntme)
Translate the center of the hyperbola to the origin (if the center of the hyperbola is (a,b), replace x with x'-a and y with y'-b). Rotate around the origin, then translate back so the center is at (a, b).
