Thread: Revolutions help, please!

Say a bike has 26" diameter wheels.

If the wheel turns 1 complete revolution, how far does the bike go along the ground?

If the wheel turns 5 complete revolutions, how far does the bike travel along the ground?

You need to find the curcumference of the wheel using

That'll give you one revolution. To get 5 revolutions, just multiply the circumference by 5.

that is what i thought, however those two questions on a worksheet come after a question asking "what is the circumference of this wheel." so, would they be the same answer?

The circumference would tell you how far the bike traveled in one revolution of the wheel.

In 5 revolutions of the wheel, simply multiply the circumference by 5.
