    $\displaystyle \log_b^x = y$

    then

    $\displaystyle b^y=x$

    so

    $\displaystyle b^{\log_b^x} = x$

now we can replace b with e:

    $\displaystyle e^{\log_e^x} = x$

    whereas: $\displaystyle \log_e^x = \ln x$

    so

    $\displaystyle e^{\ln x} = x $
