motion of ball
If a ball were thrown horizontally with a velocity of 101.0 mi/h, how far would it fall vertically by the time it reached the ground, 60.5 ft away?

$t = \frac{\Delta x}{v_x}$
calculate t ... recommend you change mph to ft/sec

$\Delta y = v_{y0}t - \frac{1}{2}gt^2$

since $v_{y0}=0$ ...

$\Delta y = -\frac{1}{2}gt^2$

using $t$ calculated above, calculate $\Delta y$

note that $g = 32 \frac{ft}{s^2}$
