    Physics

    1) A eagle is flying horizontally @ 6 m/s with a fish in its claws.

    a) how much time passes before the fish's speed doubles
    b) how much additional time passes for the fish's speed to double again

    2) A diver runs horizontally with a speed of 1.20 m/s off the platform that is 10m above the water. What is his speed just before striking the water?

    Thank's to all those who have helped me the past few days...Physics has been a total pain..and still now...

    If anyone here could help at all it would be great and if you could explain how to solve them?

    Eh. I might be wrong on this but number 1 makes no sense.

    If an eagle is flying horizontally @ 6 m/s with a fish in its claws. Then the fish's speed will always be 6 m/s unless the eagle accelerates.This means the fish's speed never doubles.

    Number 2.

     V_x=1.2 m/s
    {V_f}^2={V_o}^2+2a \Delta x
    {V_f}^2=2 (-9.8) (10)
    V_f=V_y

    Since you are trying to find the speed..you can compute it with
     Speed=\sqrt {{V_x}^2+{V_y}^2}

     Speed_{fish}=V_x=6 m/s

    <br />
12 m/s=\sqrt {{V_x}^2+{V_y}^2}<br />

    Solve for V_y.

     V_y= at

    Acceleration is -9.8 m/s^2

    You should be able to finish it and do part b.
